Setting up new operator accounts for live chat agents is fast and easy. Follow the steps below.

NOTE: These instructions assume a Department has already been setup (operator accounts are setup within and assigned to departments).

  1. Sign in to the Account Dashboard with an administrator account, then go to the Departments & Operators section.
  2. Click the "Add New Operator" link under the appropriate department.
  3. Enter the operator's name, then enter their Display Name (the name visitors see when chatting with the operator).
  4. Enter the operator's e-mail address. The e-mail address serves as the account's unique identifier and their login ID.
  5. Next, there are two ways to activate a new operator account:
    • Operator Self-Activation (default): Operator is sent an activation e-mail with instructions on how to create their own login password and how to get started using the Operator Console.
    • Activate Operator Now: Administrator manually sets up the password for the operator. The administrator then has to inform this operator of their login information.
  6. Set the account's permissions including Chat Capacity, Proactive Invites, Identifier Labels and the ability to Block Visitors from Chat.
  7. Assign Chatlets to the account.
  8. Assign account to departments.

If the Operator Self-Activation option was selected, an e-mail will be sent to the new operator with instructions on how to activate their account, set their own password, and how to get setup with the Operator Console (browser-based Webtop version or the Desktop version).
